The best book is Operating System Concepts by Silberschatz (Author), Galvin (Author), Gagne (Author). The book have covered all the topics related to syllabus and for GATE and NET/JRF.
This book will tell you the stories of the past by which the operating system was invented.Â
The second book is Operating System by korth (author) but I found this book is not for the Indian student. This book has not tough English, but after reading it 3 times, I move on to Silberschatz.Â
But an Indian author book is very interactive. Its name is Rajiv Chopra.Â
