The best book for DBMS for Indian students is Elmasri & Navathe (author). The book has covered all the topics in simple terms and related to the syllabus and for GATE and NET/JRF.
Second book is Database System Concepts by Abraham Silberschatz (Author), Henry F. Korth (Author), S. Sudarshan (Author)Â published by McGraw Hill.
This book is very difficult from my point of view.
